What is Meerschaum?
Meerschaum (Mir-shom) translated
from German, meaning “Seafoam”. A white, clay-like mineral which is
very light in weight, and renown for its superbly cool, dry smoking
characteristics! Meerschaum will mature in color over time to a deep
golden or cherry color, depending on your individual smoking habits,
such as your tobacco of preference, and frequency of use.
Today, high quality Meerschaum can only be found one area the world;
in the open plains of central Turkey near the small city of Eskisehir!
Meerschaum is mined wet from depths of up to 400 feet and is bought by
carvers in various size blocks called stones, then hand carved into what
many consider to be one of the finest smoking pipes one can own!
